Close encounters: How stellar flybys shape planet-forming discs

چکیده
We review the role of stellar flybys and encounters in shaping planet-forming discs around young stars, based on published literature this topic last 30 years. Since most stars $$\le ~2$$ Myr old harbour protoplanetary discs, tidal perturbations affect planet formation. First, we examine probability experiencing or encounters: More than 50% with a typical star-forming environment should experience close encounter flyby within 1000 au. Second, detail dynamical effects discs. Prograde, parabolic, disc-penetrating are destructive. Grazing penetrating particular lead to capture disc material by secondary form highly misaligned circumsecondary respect primary. One both may undergo extreme accretion outburst events, similar ones observed FU Orionis-type stars. Warps broken distinct signatures retrograde flybys. Third, some recently systems where an is suspected—including UX Tau, RW Aur, AS 205, Z CMa, Ori. Finally, discuss implications for formation exoplanet demographics, including possible imprints Solar System orbits trans-Neptunian objects Sun’s obliquity.

The dispersal of planet-forming discs: theory confronts observations
Discs of gas and dust around million-year-old stars are a by-product of the star formation process and provide the raw material to form planets. Hence, their evolution and dispersal directly impact what type of planets can form and affect the final architecture of planetary systems. Here, we review empirical constraints on disc evolution and dispersal with special emphasis on transition discs, ...
متن کاملRadio Observations of Algol . II . Computation of Close Stellar Encounters
We present here new astrometric measurements of Algol's position made with Very Long Baseline Interferometry. Using these measurements, along with a new estimate of the node of the inner binary and other orbital elements from the literature, we compute a new proper motion, with uncertainties six times less than those of Hipparcos. We compute the trajectories of Algol (using the new proper motio...
متن کاملStellar orbit evolution in close circumstellar disc encounters
The formation and early evolution of circumstellar discs often occurs within dense, newborn stellar clusters. For the first time, we apply the moving-mesh code AREPO, to circumstellar discs in 3D, focusing on disc–disc interactions that result from stellar flybys. Although a small fraction of stars are expected to undergo close approaches, the outcomes of the most violent encounters might leave...

IN THE November issue of Nursing Management, airline pilot Chris Mann asked: 'Safety Culture? What safety culture?' ( Mann 2004 ). His paper summarises the training undertaken in the aviation industry particularly in relation to human factors, in recognition of their part in aviation safety. He posed the following questions of the NHS.
متن کاملStellar Exotica produced from Stellar Encounters
The importance of stellar encounters in producing stellar exotica in dense stellar clusters is reviewed. We discuss how collisions between main–sequence stars may be responsible for the production of blue stragglers in globular clusters. We also discuss the possible pathways to the production of X–ray binaries, cataclysmic variables, and millisecond pulsars in globular clusters. Neutron stars i...
